The World's First Zero Emission Home Temporary Zeth is Conceived as a more comfortable and user-friendly Technological building. It has a south-facing roof covered in solar cells. More Than That harness enough power to keep the appliances running and Maintain the best comfort. This is a Mediterranean Passive House, That Set The Standard for Sustainable Living and it Have Obtained the "Casaclima Class A - experimental house). This home Rely on a heat exchanger That warms fresh air on the way in During winter and an effective 240 mm. insulation. Zeth has a back-up heat-chiller systems, Because It's No Fun Being Boiled in summertime, to the little two dimensions (surface to volume ratio). The solar radiation is controlled by a green "brise soleil" I know the room is always bright and there's less need to turn the lights on. The efficiency of the insulation is controlled by a computer linked to a system of sensors, Which According To take temperatures and damp season and time of day.

ReVolt House

revolt house 1
You must have heard of the doomsday predictions millions of times before. Some of them exaggerated, but most of them very real and already under progress. Carbon emissions are mounting across the Planet. Global temperatures are increasing and the polar icecaps are melting. At this point of time, the best gift you could give yourself and your kids (apart from going green) is probably investing in this solar houseboat.
revolt house 2
Designed by students of the team TU Delft, this is not just a solution for those who are counting on the doomsday happening. On a more rational note, this provides housing solution on waves and by doing so; it also reduces pressure on decreasing land resources across the globe. By moving our shelters on water via such floating houseboats that are autonomous and powered by green energy, we free up land that can be used for other purposes.
revolt house 3
The design comes from Netherlands and the country is blessed with ample water bodies that remain stable and are perfect for houseboats. ReVolt House is equipped with a solar rooftop that allows you to power your entire home on solar energy alone. Obviously throwing in some wind power and maybe even some turbine power onboard will help it further on cloudy days as well. The home rotates along with the sun for passive heating needs and as it floats on water, temperatures always remain moderate.
The idea is to create colonies of such homes on water in the future so that pressure on land resources is reduced and alternate energy tapped into. This is one ultra-cool idea that we are all for and maybe we can try out a prototype soon!

PHILIPPINES LAUNCHES SIKAT II THE 3RD GENERATION SOLAR CAR

SIKAT II set to compete in the 2011 World Solar Challenge. The race towards sustainable natural energy development is on once again as the Philippine Solar Car Challenge Society, Inc. (PSCCSI) and De La Salle University-Manila unveils Sikat II, the third-generation solar car that is proudly Filipino-made.

Taking after the phenomenal performance of Sinag (2007) and Sikat (2009), Sikat II will make a mark in history as it is set to compete in the 3,000-km race from Darwin to Adelaide in Australia in the 2011 World Solar Challenge on October 16-23, 2011. This will be the second time that the Philippines will be participating in the race.

“Sikat II is a testament of Filipino creativity and ingenuity, talent and technological capability in tapping clean and renewable sources of energy such as solar power. Just like Sinag and Sikat, Sikat II is beaming with promise as it shows the world what solar energy is capable of and what Filipinos can do in the field of science and technology,” PSCCSI said.

Highlighting the ability of Filipinos to lead in sustainable energy technology, Sikat II will be designed and created by 22 engineering students and seven faculty members of the Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics and Communications Engineering Departments of De La Salle University-Manila. Leading the project are Dr. Pag-Asa Gaspillo and Jack Catalan with the support of team heads Martin Kalaw and Isidro Marfori III.

Sikat II boasts of many improvements to its design and mechanical features. It sports a sleek and aerodynamic body made of lightweight carbon fiber-honeycomb composite. Faster than its predecessors, Sikat II can run at a top speed of 110kph with its 2-kilowatt motor. It weighs in at less than 180kg, at least 20 kg lighter than Sikat and at least 110kg lighter than Sinag.

Harnessing the inexhaustible power of the sun, Sikat II is fueled by solar energy harvested and converted into electricity by photovoltaic cells. It is equipped with Filipino-made solar cells from Sunpower Philippines, a leading manufacturer of high-efficiency solar cells in the world based in Laguna.

With its much-improved solar technology, Sikat II hopes to finish the 3,000-km race in a record-breaking feat this October. In 2007, Sinag (the first Philippine solar car) delivered a remarkable debut performance by finishing 12th among 40 other participants from around the world.

Members of the Philippine Solar Car Challenge Society, Inc. (PSCCSI) include First Gen Corporation, First Philec Solar Corporation, Sunpower, Ford, Shell, Merritt Partners, Isla Lipana & Co. with Stratworks as its PR partner.

“More than a source of pride to the country, Sikat II marks another landmark achievement in harnessing alternative energy sources. The journey of Sikat II is set to start a spark that will create new awareness about the unlimited potential of solar power and the potential of our dedicated and talented young pioneers,” PSCCSI said.

Fully converted electric Honda Civic

honda_civic_610x359
CMU Robotics Institute’s initiated ChargeCar Electric Vehicle Conversion Project has successfully taken the ‘green’ step forward. With the help of researchers such as Illah Nourbakhsh of the institute’s Create Lab work, in collaboration with local mechanics, they are about to unveil a 2002 Civic EX four-door sedan that has been totally converted into an electric car.

The car’s conventional power train has been compensated with a 35-horsepower electric motor along with 33 lithium-iron-phosphate batteries in the trunk space. But converting the car is not the only aim of the project, they also wanted to make the car more power efficient and enhance battery life imbued with better AI. For example, the batteries were connected to a supercapacitor, which is a high-capacitance energy storage device. And artificial intelligence algorithms were used to regulate the energy drawn from batteries and stored in the supercapacitor.
